Job summary

Cloudflare in Austin, TX is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Egress team to own and evolve the network-facing software that connects our products to destinations around the world. You will work across Go and Rust, design scalable systems, and collaborate with SRE and Network teams to ensure reliability and performance on Cloudflare's edge network.

This role requires strong engineering leadership, a passion for solving large-scale problems, and the ability to ship robust features

Qualifications

• 8+ years of hands-on software engineering experience.
• Owning architecture of complex distributed production systems end to end.
• Driving RFCs and design reviews that teams rely on.
• Solid grasp of networking protocols in Layers 3 and 4.
• Knowledge of HTTP, TLS, and CDN networks.
• Experience implementing secure and highly-available distributed systems.
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
• Collaboration and communication skills.
• Interest in HTTP networking and VPN technologies.
• Interest in network performance monitoring and tuning.
• Willingness to adopt AI tools within engineering workflow.

Responsibilities

• Make daily progress on assigned engineering tasks, including designing systems and writing release plans.
• Participate in daily and ad-hoc team meetings to share progress.
• Participate in on-call rotation to ensure uptime of production systems.
• Investigate customer issues escalated to the Egress team for triage and resolution.
• Answer questions from other teams in the Egress team chat.
• Use AI-powered tools to analyze codebases and production data to accelerate problem-solving.
