Job summary

Shermco Industries seeks a Senior NETA Field Service Technician to join our growing team. You will travel to industrial and commercial sites to inspect, test, troubleshoot and collect data on high‑voltage systems (480 V to 600 kV).

The ideal candidate holds a NETA III/IV or electrician license, 5+ years of switchgear testing experience, strong PC skills (Excel, PowerDB a plus) and a commitment to safety and on‑call duties.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in EPC or EE from ABET accredited college (or equivalent).
• NETA Certification III or IV or Electrician license preferred.
• 5+ years of experience testing & troubleshooting switchgear.
• Strong PC skills including email, internet, data entry; Excel; PowerDB a plus.
• Must be able to travel daily locally/regionally and be available for overnight travel.
• Read, write and speak English fluently.

Responsibilities

• Travel to customer sites to inspect, test, troubleshoot and collect data on HV systems.
• Perform instrument transformer tests and power transformer testing (Doble, TTR, insulation resistance).
• Test both electro‑mechanical and solid‑state relays when possible.
• Conduct cable testing (Tan Delta, Power Factor, VLF, DC Hipot).
• Troubleshoot ATS, low/medium/high voltage switchgear and circuit breakers.
• Calibrate relays and power metering; support on-call emergencies.
• Rotate on-call duties; respond to emergencies promptly.
