Job summary

Shermco Industries seeks a NETA Field Service Technician, Senior to join our nationwide team. You will travel to industrial and commercial sites to inspect, test, troubleshoot, and data-collect HV electrical systems from 480 V to 600 kV, performing transformer tests and relay calibration as required.

The role requires strong safety practices, valid licenses, and willingness to travel domestically with occasional overnight stays.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Electrical Power & Controls (EPC) or EE degree from ABET accredited college; or equivalent military training.
• NETA Certification (III or IV) or Electrician license preferred.
• 5+ years of experience in switchgear testing & troubleshooting.
• Proficient PC skills including email, internet, data entry and Microsoft Excel; PowerDB a plus.
• Must drive daily locally/regionally and be available for overnight travel.

Responsibilities

• Field Service Test Technicians travel to customer sites to inspect, test, troubleshoot and collect data of LV, MV and HV electrical systems.
• Able to travel to customer job sites across the state and bordering states.
• Perform instrument transformer tests.
• Power transformer testing - Doble, TTR, Insulation Resistance, etc.
• Proficient in testing electro-mechanical and solid-state relays.
• Cable testing - Tan Delta, Power Factor, VLF, DC Hipot.
• Troubleshoot ATS and low/medium/high voltage switchgear and circuit breakers.
• Moderately complex relay calibration and power metering.
• Rotate emergency on-call duty and respond to customer emergencies.
