Job summary

Shermco Industries in Grimes, IA is seeking a Senior NETA Field Service Technician to perform on-site inspection, testing, troubleshooting, and data collection of electrical power systems ranging from 480V to 600 kV. This role requires travel to customer sites across the state and bordering states, with occasional overnight stays.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of switchgear testing experience, NETA III/IV or electrician license, and strong PC skills.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in switchgear testing & troubleshooting.
• NETA Certification III or IV or electrician license preferred.
• Strong computer skills: email, internet, data entry, Excel; PowerDB a plus.
• Ability to travel locally and overnight as required.
• Commitment to safety and adherence to procedures.

Responsibilities

• Travel to customer sites to inspect, test, troubleshoot, and collect data on HV/LV systems.
• Perform start-up testing and data collection for 480 V to 600 kV equipment.
• Conduct instrument transformer tests and power transformer testing (Doble, TTR, insulation resistance, etc.).
• Troubleshoot relays and switchgear; assist in emergency responses.
• Maintain accurate records and report findings.
