Job summary

Citi in New York, NY seeks a Mortgage Lending Officer to originate high-quality residential real estate loans and to build strong relationships with clients, real estate agents, and referral partners.

The role requires deep mortgage product knowledge, strong sales capability, and the ability to explain complex financials clearly while ensuring compliance with lending laws and Citi standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• 5–8 years of residential mortgage experience.
• 1+ year in sales, credit or finance roles.
• Proven product sales capability is required.
• FHA/VA and conventional loan experience preferred.
• Ability to explain financial calculations and pricing.
• Knowledge of consumer lending laws, privacy and RESPA.
• Strong customer service and relationship skills.

Responsibilities

• Consult with customers about financial situations, goals and lending needs to achieve home ownership.
• Collect and analyze information on income, assets, debts, cash flow and credit history.
• Assess whether customers and properties qualify for lending solutions.
• Recommend lending options that meet customers' objectives.
• Advise on risks and benefits of different lending solutions.
• Promote Citi's lending services to real estate agents and partners.
• Visit clients outside Citi offices and collaborate with internal teams to grow business.
• Ensure timely loan processing and close with processors/underwriters.
