Job summary

Citi in New York is seeking a Mortgage Lending Officer to originate high‑quality residential loans and grow client relationships. You will engage with real estate partners, agents and clients to assess needs, explain options, and coordinate with operations to move loans to closing.

A strong track record in mortgage sales and an established book of business are essential. The role requires knowledge of FHA/VA and conventional loan processes, plus familiarity with lending laws and RESPA.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years relevant experience.
• 3+ years mortgage sales experience required.
• Residential Mortgage experience required.
• Established book of business.
• Proven product sales capability is required.
• FHA/VA & conventional loan experience is preferred.
• Understand financial calculations and pricing alternatives.
• Knowledge of consumer lending laws including RESPA.

Responsibilities

• Consult with customers about financial situations and lending needs.
• Collect and analyze customer information including goals, assets, and credit history.
• Assess initial qualification for lending solutions.
• Recommend lending options that meet objectives.
• Explain risks and benefits of alternatives to customers.
• Promote Citi brands and refer clients to Citi services.
• Visit customers outside Citi's offices based on geography and conditions.
• Collaborate with internal partners to support customers.
• Refer customers to other Citi professionals as needed.
• Coordinate with Operations to ensure smooth loan processing.
• Assist Processors and Underwriters to close loans on time.
• Develop referral networks with realtors, CPAs, builders, etc.
• Introduce clients to segment partners when appropriate.
• Monitor local market trends and regulatory changes; expand networks.
• Assess risk in decisions, uphold Citi's reputation and compliance.
