Job summary

Citi in New York is seeking a Mortgage Lending Officer to originate high quality residential real estate loans, partnering with branch and operations teams to drive mortgage sales and client relationships.

The role requires 5–8 years in residential lending, strong communication, and a proven sales track record. Travel to client sites and real estate referrals are common, with a base salary around market norms and comprehensive Citi benefits.

Qualifications

• 5-8 years of experience in mortgage or lending roles.
• Residential mortgage experience required.
• 1+ year sales/credit/finance experience required.
• Proven product sales capability required.
• FHA/VA and conventional loan experience preferred.
• The ability to comprehend and explain financial calculations and pricing alternatives.
• Knowledge of the laws and regulations that govern consumer lending, including fair lending, privacy, and RESPA.
• Demonstrated customer service skills
• Self-motivated and able to work independently

Responsibilities

• Consult with customers about their financial situation, goals and lending needs to help achieve home ownership.
• Collect and analyze information about the customer's financial situation, goals, risk tolerance and credit history.
• Analyze financial information to assess if the customer and property may qualify for a lending solution.
• Make recommendations on lending options to meet objectives.
• Advise customers on consequences, risks, and benefits of loan options.
• Promote Citi’s lending services to clients and referral sources.
• Meet with customers outside Citi offices as needed to grow relationships.
• Collaborate with internal partners to support customers and drive mortgage business.
• Refer customers to Citi professionals for other financial services.
• Coordinate with Operations to obtain documents for loan processing and underwriting.
• Work with Processors/Closers to ensure timely loan closings.
• Develop and nurture referral relationships with real estate agents, CPAs, builders, etc.
• Assess risk in business decisions and uphold Citi’s compliance with laws and policy.
• Build and maintain relationships with clients, wealth teams and support staff to grow mortgage lending and related deposits/investments.
• Connect Citi Wealth Teams with self-sourced clients to deepen relationships and plan growth.
• Stay informed about market trends, local regulatory changes, and industry developments.
