Job summary

Rush Enterprises, Inc. seeks an Experienced Mobile Diesel Technician to support client fleets with on-site service and proactive maintenance. You will respond to service calls, perform diagnostics, and execute repairs on heavy-duty trucks at customer locations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 5 years' experience as a Class 7 & 8 technician in a dealership or related truck service facility.
• Current CDL preferred but not required.
• Medical card as required by the FMVSS.
• Peterbilt, International, Ford, Hino, Isuzu, Cummins, & ASE certifications are preferred & rewarded.

Responsibilities

• Maintain all aspects of equipment according to company standards.
• Handle basic maintenance of the truck including filling tank with fuel, checking oil, keeping it clean, and ensuring inspections are performed and documented.
• Manage inventory control on the service truck and for keeping the vehicle properly stocked.
• Report to the Service Manager and will be assigned duties on a daily basis.
• Maintain availability for after-hours service calls and be available for an open work schedule.
• Read job orders and observe vehicle operation to determine malfunction and plan procedures.
• Utilize diagnostic equipment to determine malfunction and perform correct repair procedure.
• Diagnosis, removal and replacement of injectors, pistons, liners, cam shafts, cylinder heads, bearings, oil pans, clutches, and more.
• Perform necessary diagnostic and documentation functions on the company computer system.
• Examine guards, bolts, and safety devices and make adjustments.
• Lubricate moving parts and drive repaired vehicle to verify conformance to specifications.
• Document and submit paperwork or enter into mobile service program as work performed.
• Respond to customer inquiries and foster positive relations.
• Advise customer/service writer of repairs to be performed within the next 3 months.
• Participate in training and apply training on the job.
