Job summary

Rush Truck Centers is seeking an Experienced Mobile Diesel Technician to support our clients at their locations. The role emphasizes maintaining fleets, handling on-site service calls, and expediting expert repairs on heavy-duty trucks.

Applicants should have 5 years of Class 7/8 dealership experience, a high school diploma, and ASE or OEM certifications are a plus. CDL is preferred but not required. Health benefits, 401(k), and career growth opportunities are offered.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 5 years' experience as a Class 7 & 8 technician in a dealership or related truck service facility.
• Current CDL preferred but not required.
• Medical card as required by FMVS.
• Mechanical aptitude and technical ability a must.
• Peterbilt, International, Ford, Hino, Isuzu, Cummins, & ASE certifications preferred & rewarded.

Responsibilities

• Maintain all aspects of equipment according to company standards.
• Handle basic maintenance of the truck including fueling, oil checks, cleanliness, and inspections.
• Manage inventory control on service truck and keep vehicle stocked.
• Report to the Service Manager and receive daily duties.
• Maintain after-hours availability for service calls.
• Maintain and inventory tools for diesel trucks and equipment.
• Read job orders and determine malfunction to plan procedures.
• Use diagnostic equipment and technical information to perform repairs.
• Diagnose, remove and replace parts such as injectors, pistons, lin ers, cam shafts, cylinder heads, bearings, oil pans, clutches, gears, brakes, batteries, and transmissions.
• Perform diagnostic and documentation functions in the company system.
• Inspect guards, bolts, safety devices and make adjustments.
• Lubricate parts and verify conformance to specs.
• Perform preventative maintenance as requested.
• Submit paperwork or enter work performed into mobile service program.
• Respond to customer inquiries and foster relations.
• Advise customers on repairs to be performed within 3 months.
• Participate in training and apply it on the job.
