Job summary

Rush Enterprises, Inc. is seeking an Experienced Mobile Diesel Technician to service fleets at client sites. Join a leading network of commercial vehicle dealers and help ensure diesel trucks and equipment operate reliably.

The role demands 5 years in class 7/8 repair environments, diagnostic skills, and the ability to work independently with after-hours availability. CDL is preferred; medical card and ASE certifications are valued. This full-time position offers competitive pay and benefits.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • At least 5 years as a Class 7 & 8 technician in a dealership or truck service facility.
  • CDL preferred but not required.
  • Medical card as required by the FMVSS.
  • Mechanical aptitude and technical ability are essential.
  • Peterbilt/International/Ford/Hino/Isuzu/Cummins/ASE certifications are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain equipment per company standards.
  • Perform basic truck maintenance: fueling, oil checks, cleaning, and inspections.
  • Manage service truck inventory and stocking.
  • Report to Service Manager and follow daily duties.
  • Be available for after-hours calls and flexible schedule.
  • Maintain and inventory tools for diesel truck maintenance.
  • Read job orders, assess vehicle operation, plan procedures.
  • Use diagnostic equipment and manuals to identify and repair.
  • Diagnose and replace components like injectors, pistons, bearings, transmissions and brakes.
  • Run diagnostics and document work in the company system.
  • Inspect safety guards/bolts and adjust as needed.
  • Lubricate parts and verify repairs meet specs.
  • Perform preventive maintenance.
  • Document work and update mobile service program.
  • Handle customer inquiries and maintain relations.
  • Advise on upcoming repairs within 3 months.
  • Participate in training and apply it on the job.

Skills

Class 7&8 diesel tech experience
Current CDL (preferred)
Mechanical aptitude
ASE certifications (preferred)
