Job summary

Cox Automotive is hiring a Sr Mobile Diesel Technician to perform licensed DOT inspections, PMs, and advanced repairs on fleets nationwide. The role requires diagnosing complex electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems and delivering high-quality service in a mobile/field setting.

You will manage shop-on-wheels duties, document findings in the TRAIT system, and coordinate with customers to meet safety and performance standards while adhering to DOT and company policies.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED with 3+ years in a related field; or 5 years in a related field.
• At least 3 years of experience with refrigerated equipment.
• Must supply a set of hand tools.
• DOT/FMCSA regulations experience; able to complete DOT forms & DOT physical requirements.

Responsibilities

• Perform DOT inspections, PMs, and repairs on light to heavy‑duty vehicles in mobile/field settings.
• Diagnose electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems; use diagnostic tools and test instruments.
• Road test vehicles to verify repairs and ensure proper operation.
• Manage parts inventory and vehicle service truck; document work in RO using TRAIT app.
• Coordinate with customers and management; obtain approvals and PO numbers as needed.
• Follow safety policies and regulatory requirements including OSHA, EPA, and DOT.
