Job summary

Hudbay is seeking a Mine Planning Superintendent for the Helvetia, AZ area. You will lead short-term planning and mine design activities, directing a team of planners while ensuring safe, efficient operations and adherence to budgets.

The role reports to the Principal Mine Engineer and requires a minimum of ten years in mine engineering (open pit) with supervisory experience; a strong asset is an advanced degree.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mining engineering is required.
• Post-graduate degree is considered a strong asset.
• A minimum of ten (10) years of proven experience in mine engineering in open pit operations, with at least three (3) years at senior supervisory level.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed mine plans and schedules (daily, weekly, monthly).
• Lead and develop a team of mine planners and engineers.
• Oversee ore control, stockpiles, and mining boundaries against models.
• Ensure plans are practical, economical and compliant with standards.
• Manage the mine planning budget and project support activities.
• Report on plans, schedules and performance to senior management.
