Job summary

Hudbay is seeking an experienced Mine Operations Superintendent to lead open-pit copper extraction, loading, haulage, and support operations. You will manage daily targets, budgets, and fleet productivity, while promoting a zero-harm safety culture across shifts and contractors.

Reporting to Mine Manager, you will collaborate with mine engineering, geology, maintenance, and processing teams to optimize total mine-to-mill productivity and ensure adherence to short- and long-term plans.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or related field; equivalent combination of education and leadership experience accepted.
• 10–12 years in open-pit hard-rock mining operations (copper/gold/base metals preferred).
• 3–5 years in senior leadership or supervisory roles (e.g., Shift Superintendent).

Responsibilities

• Direct day-to-day open-pit mining activities including loading, haulage, pit maintenance, and earthmoving services.
• Execute daily/weekly mining sequences aligned with plans and budgets.
• Lead continuous improvement to reduce bottlenecks and improve fleet efficiency.
• Enforce MSHA and regulatory compliance across the site.
• Provide mentorship and performance management for shift supervisors and operators.
• Coordinate with process plant leadership to optimize throughput from mine to mill.
