Job summary

Hudbay is seeking a Senior Short-Term Planning Engineer for its Copper World open-pit operation in Arizona. You will translate long-term strategy into daily, weekly, and monthly mine plans, coordinating with operations, geology, and processing teams to optimize ore recovery and cost efficiency.

The role requires 7+ years in mine planning, expert use of MinePlan/Deswik, and strong communication and teamwork skills. Safety and regulatory compliance are integral to every plan.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of proven experience in mine engineering in open pit operations.
• Strong knowledge of open-pit mining methods and equipment.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules aligned with mine strategy and budget.
• Optimize short-term plans to maximize ore recovery and minimize dilution.
• Incorporate geological models, geotechnical data and processing constraints into plans.
• Monitor production and reconcile mill feed grades against plans and models.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to standardized procedures.
