Job summary

Hudbay is seeking a Senior Short-Term Planning Engineer for its Copper World open-pit operation in Arizona. You will translate long-term goals into actionable daily, weekly and monthly plans, optimizing equipment use, ore boundaries, and stockpile routing to maximize safety and efficiency.

You will collaborate with geology, processing, and operations teams, applying advanced mine planning tools and QA/QC protocols to ensure plan compliance and performance visibility.

Qualifications

7+ years of proven experience in mine engineering in open pit operations.
2+ years in short/medium term mine planning.
Strong knowledge of open-pit mining methods and planning processes.
Experience using Hexagon MinePlan or Deswik for planning.

Responsibilities

Develop detailed daily, weekly and monthly production schedules.
Optimize plans to maximize ore recovery and minimize dilution.
Incorporate geology, geotechnical data and processing constraints into plans.
Monitor production and update mine planning databases and systems.
Provide regular performance reports and support safety/compliance.
