Job summary

BioCryst Pharmaceuticals seeks a Sr. Systems Engineer to manage and support Microsoft cloud services (Microsoft 365, Azure, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, Entra ID) and on‑premises infrastructure at the Durham location.

The role requires five‑day on‑site work in the Durham office and collaboration with MSPs, Information Security, and IT teams to ensure security, reliability, and compliance. The ideal candidate has 7+ years in enterprise Microsoft cloud environments, strong identity

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in IT/CS/Engineering.
• 7+ years of experience supporting enterprise Microsoft cloud platforms and infrastructure.
• Expertise in Microsoft 365, Azure, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, Purview, and Entra ID.
• Strong knowledge of identity, security, governance, and compliance technologies.
• Experience with MSPs and third‑party vendors in a cloud/enterprise setting.

Responsibilities

• Design, administer, and optimize Microsoft enterprise cloud platforms and services.
• Lead evaluation, testing, and rollout of new features with focus on security and compliance.
• Architect and deliver enterprise infrastructure initiatives and process improvements.
• Administer on-premises Durham infrastructure including networking and data centers.
• Provide onsite support in Durham five days per week.
• Coordinate with MSPs and vendors to ensure performance and reliability.
• Create and maintain technical documentation and diagrams.
• Support meetings and events in the Durham office with reliable IT services.
