Job summary

BioCryst Pharmaceuticals in Durham, NC seeks an IT Support Specialist – Frontier Durham to deliver dependable Tier 1 tech support on-site for employees. This is a 6-month contract; on-site five days a week at the Frontier Durham office.

Responsibilities include deskside support, troubleshooting hardware/software, MS 365, Teams, conference room tech, onboarding/offboarding, and adherence to IT processes. The ideal candidate is hands-on, organized, and customer-focused in a fast-paced office.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Information Technology or related field preferred.
• 2+ years of Tier 1 deskside or service desk experience in a corporate environment.
• Strong customer service mindset with clear communication and calm under pressure.
• Experience with Windows 10/11, Microsoft 365, Teams, Outlook, mobile devices, printers, and basic networking.
• Experience with conference room or audiovisual tech (Teams Rooms, displays, cameras, etc.).
• Ability to stand/walk for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds when handling IT equipment.
• Must be able to work 100% on-site at Frontier Durham BioCryst office, five days a week.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary on-site Tier 1 IT support resource for Frontier Durham employees.
• Troubleshoot hardware, software, network, printer, mobile device, badge/access, and Microsoft 365 issues; escalate as needed.
• Provide professional, white-glove support for BioCryst leadership, visitors, and staff.
• Perform basic conference room and audiovisual troubleshooting (Teams Rooms, displays, cameras, etc.).
• Maintain daily office technology checks and keep equipment operational.
• Log and track incidents in the ITSM system with clear notes and timely updates.
• Support onboarding and offboarding (workstation setup, accounts, first-day support).
• Assist with inventory, asset tracking, and equipment logistics.
• Follow IT processes, SLAs, SOPs, security requirements, and escalation paths.
• Document recurring issues and local support procedures to improve service.
