Job summary

Abbott is seeking a Supervisor, Microbiology Lab (3rd Shift) at the Sturgis, MI location to lead a 7-day, multi-shift operation within Abbott Nutrition. You will drive quality and compliance, coordinate shift activities, and mentor team members while overseeing budgets and ensuring adherence to EHS and GMP standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required or equivalent experience in a regulated lab.
• Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
• Demonstrated problem solving and analytical abilities.
• Leadership experience in a high-volume manufacturing lab.
• Experience using project planning tools (e.g., MS Project).
• Good understanding of plant financials and budgeting.
• Proficiency with MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Lead shift to meet key performance metrics in EHS, Quality, Finance and People.
• Initiate decisions impacting product quality and safety.
• Manage budget accountability for headcount, OT and direct expenses.
• Track, trend and improve budgetary performance and lab efficiency.
• Drive MSP objectives and improvement plans for lab performance.
• Understand KPIs and execute plans with team and resources.
• Foster engagement and supervise staff; handle staffing.
• Develop personnel through training and mentoring.
• Model and enforce EHS culture and CAPA actions.
• Lead microbiology QA lab operations: EMP, testing and procedures.
• Provide technical direction to lab personnel and leadership during issues.
• Ensure compliance and cost awareness including CIP initiatives.
