Abbott in Sturgis, MI is seeking an Assistant Microbiologist I for the 3rd shift (Tue-Sat). You will apply GMP and aseptic techniques to microbiological sampling, test pathogens, and assist with quality documentation in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1 year of college lab studies and 1 year of college math and 2 years lab experience or 4 years in pharma/manufacturing.
• Associate's or Bachelor's in science with lab/math prerequisites.
• GMP experience and strong attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Carry out sampling of Environmental Monitoring Program (EMP) and comply with department objectives.
• Apply GMP and aseptic technique in microbiological sampling (air, swabs, steam, water).
• Test pathogens such as Salmonella, Cronobacter, E. coli, Staph aureus, etc.
• Perform plating and analysis to identify organisms.
• Assist with batch release and quality assurance documentation.
• Work with fellow technicians with clear communication and high attention to detail.
• Prioritize tasks and complete sampling at required frequency.
• Adhere to GMPs, FDA, OSHA, and Abbott regulations.
