Abbott is hiring a Supervisor, Microbiology Lab (3rd Shift) for the Sturgis, MI facility. The role leads a shift in a multi‑shift, FDA‑regulated lab environment, ensuring quality, safety and efficiency across environmental monitoring, biochemical tests, and finished product analyses.

You will manage staffing, budgeting, and CAPA activities, while coaching team members and maintaining compliance with regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Science, Food Technology, or Technical field with 2 years' laboratory experience or equivalent experience.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Strong problem solving abilities and troubleshooting.
• Experience in a high-volume manufacturing support laboratory.
• Demonstrated leadership skills to supervise a shift team.
• Experience using project planning tools.
• Good plant financial understanding and budget awareness.
• Computer skills including MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Microbiology Lab on a 3rd shift, coordinating the shift team to meet KPIs.
• Manage headcount, overtime and lab expenses within budget.
• Drive quality, EHS, and regulatory compliance across the shift.
• Oversee EMP, biochemical testing, raw material and finished product analyses.
• Coach and develop staff; provide training and performance feedback.
• Prepare for internal/external audits and CAPA implementations.
• Collaborate with production to align lab priorities with manufacturing goals.
