Job summary

Abbott in Sturgis, MI is seeking a Supervisor for the Microbiology Lab (2nd Shift). You will lead a multi-shift operation, ensure quality, safety, and on-time performance, and manage budget responsibilities for headcount and direct expenses.

The role requires strong leadership and hands-on mentorship in a regulated lab environment. Responsibilities include leading EMP and microbiology testing, driving improvements in lab performance, and coordinating with production to align schedules and goals,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Science, Food Technology, or Technical field; 2+ years in a regulated lab
• Strong communication and leadership skills
• Experience in high-volume manufacturing support lab
• Demonstrated problem-solving ability and project planning

Responsibilities

• Lead shift laboratory operations to meet key KPI targets (EHS, Quality, Productivity)
• Manage headcount, OT, and direct expenses for the shift
• Track budget performance and drive improvements in lab efficiency
• Oversee Environmental Monitoring Program and microbial testing activities
• Provide direction and mentorship to lab personnel and ensure CAPA completion
• Prepare for internal/external audits and ensure regulatory compliance
