Job summary

Abbott in Sturgis, MI is seeking a Lab Supervisor, Microbiology (Day Shift, Weekends). You will oversee a 7-day microbiology operation, coordinate the shift team, and ensure timely delivery of quality and safety metrics across EHS, Quality, and Production.

Lead initiatives to improve lab efficiency, manage budget for headcount and expenses, mentor staff, and ensure compliance with FDA, OSHA, and Abbott policies throughout the shift.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 2 years' regulated lab experience or equivalent.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Experience in high-volume manufacturing support lab.
• Demonstrated leadership and project planning ability; financial awareness.
• Proficiency with MS Office and regulatory familiarity.
• Lean Six Sigma or CIP experience is optional but preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead the shift team to meet performance metrics across EHS, Quality, Finance, Productivity and people.
• Manage headcount, overtime and direct expenses for the shift budget.
• Drive lab efficiencies and MSP objectives; plan improvements for quality and cost.
• Provide direction to microbiology staff and lead problem-solving on microbial issues.
• Ensure compliance with FDA, OSHA and Abbott policies; participate in audits.
• Oversee Environmental Monitoring Program, testing and CAPA activities.
• Plan day-to-day operations; align lab and production priorities; coach staff.
