Job summary

Abbott is seeking a Supervisor for the Microbiology Lab on the 3rd shift at our Sturgis, MI facility. The role leads a multi‑person shift, ensuring quality, safety, and regulatory compliance while coordinating resources and budgets.

You will guide environmental monitoring, microbial testing, CAPAs, and audits, mentoring staff and driving continuous improvement in lab performance and cost efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Science, Food Technology, or Technical with 2 years' experience in a laboratory in a regulated industry or equivalent.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated problem solving skills.
• Experience working in a high-volume manufacturing support laboratory.
• Demonstrated leadership skills.
• Experience using project planning tools.
• Plant financial understanding.
• Computer skills (MS Office).

Responsibilities

• Lead the 7-day, multi-shift microbiology operation for a shift.
• Ensure delivery of quality, EHS, and budget targets for the shift.
• Oversee EMP, microbial testing, CAPA activities and audits.
• Coach and develop laboratory personnel and assign challenging tasks.
• Maintain compliance with Abbott policies and regulatory requirements.
