Job summary

Structure Tone Southwest is seeking an Electrical Estimator to perform MEP estimating, budgeting, and bidding for assigned projects. You will work with architects, clients, and operations staff to clarify objectives and schedules, developing hard bids or negotiated pricing from reliable subcontractors and suppliers.

Responsibilities include reviewing plans, soliciting subcontractor bids, analyzing bids for conformance, maintaining a cost estimating database, and ensuring bids reflect full scope.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in construction engineering, mechanical or electrical engineering, or related field with 2-3 years of MEP estimating experience.
• Well-developed estimating, communications, financial analysis, budgeting, purchasing, negotiation, and computer skills.
• Knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems to complete comprehensive cost estimates.

Responsibilities

• Review plans and drawings; prepare quantity take-offs for assigned projects.
• Solicit subcontractor bids for MEP projects and analyze bids for conformance.
• Maintain current information on construction codes to ensure complete bids.
• Develop scope-specific inclusion worksheets and track bidding progress.
• Compute cost factors and prepare estimates for bids, planning, and scheduling.
• Consult with clients and vendors to resolve issues and finalize estimates.
• Organize a centralized cost estimating database and ensure historical data is used.
• Analyze completed projects to compare estimates with actual costs and identify variances.
