Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a skilled Medical Coder to independently perform complex professional fee coding for physician services in both office and hospital settings. The role requires meticulous application of CPT/HCPCS and ICD-10-CM/PCS guidelines and strong attention to detail.

You will also handle entry-level facility coding for outpatient and simple inpatient encounters, ensuring compliance with CMS and organizational standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of an accredited medical coding or HIM program (or equivalent experience).
• 3–5 years of direct professional fee coding experience in a multi-specialty environment.
• Experience with Epic or similar electronic health record systems.

Responsibilities

• Independently perform complex professional fee coding (CPT/HCPCS and ICD-10-CM) for physician services in office and hospital settings.
• Perform entry-level facility coding for simple outpatient encounters and basic inpatient services using ICD-10-CM/PCS.
• Ensure coding adheres to official guidelines and CMS regulations and organizational standards.
• Identify need for formal clinical queries for documentation clarification when necessary.
• Maintain high accuracy and productivity standards and mentor new staff.
