Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking an experienced inpatient coder to review complex documentation and assign accurate ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS codes. You will work with clinical teams to ensure proper DRG alignment and high-quality reimbursements.

The role requires strong knowledge of coding guidelines, attention to detail, and collaboration with CDI and Quality teams to maintain coding integrity and compliance in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Advanced profiency of ICD, CPT and HCPCS coding guidelines.
• Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology.
• Experience with EMR/Coding software and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Review complex inpatient documentation to assign ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, HCPCS codes.
• Ensure code selection follows Official Coding Guidelines and regulations.
• Code high-dollar, long-stay cases for all patient types.
• Collaborate with CDI and Quality teams to align DRG with codes.
