Job summary

RTX is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer for the Test Equipment Engineering Directorate in Tucson, AZ. This 100% onsite role requires a DoD Secret clearance and hands-on experience in designing and sustaining test environments for missile defense products.

You will lead the development of mechanical test systems, validate installations, and recommend design improvements to ensure high reliability and accuracy across production tests. A STEM degree and 8+ years of experience are expected.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience.
• Minimum of eight (8) years of technical / engineering experience in mechanical design and/or production support.
• Skilled in using CAD solid modeling and analysis tools, with an emphasis on ProE / CREO Parametric for complex design and engineering workflows.
• Demonstrated experience with geometric dimensioning and tolerance (GD&T) analysis.
• Experience creating mechanical drawing packages.

Responsibilities

• Research, plan, design and develop mechanical test systems in areas including, but not limited to, vibration, thermal, hydraulic, radio frequency, and electro-optical for production testing environments.
• Integrate and validate test systems against stringent accuracy and reliability requirements.
• Evaluate production installations and recommend design modifications to eliminate malfunctions.
