Blue Origin is seeking a Sr. Technical Manager to lead the Large Mechanisms team responsible for ground mechanical systems and GSE for LC-36 operations in Cape Canaveral, FL. Combine hands-on engineering leadership with strong people management to set technical direction and mentor engineers.

The role balances technical engagement with program leadership, driving design reviews, risk mitigation, and cross‑functional collaboration to ensure safe, reliable launch operations.

Qualificações

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or closely related discipline.
• 10+ years of professional mechanical engineering experience with large-scale systems, mechanisms, or GSE.
• 8+ years of direct engineering management or team lead experience, including performance management.
• Experience leading mechanical design programs from concept through commissioning and operations.
• GD&T (ASME Y14.5) and tolerance stack‑up analysis experience.
• Experience with bolted connections, mechanical interfaces, and load bearing joints in precision assemblies.
• Experience with heavy‑duty mechanism types (locking mechanisms, linkages, quick release, alignment).
• Experience with dynamic loading analysis (vibration, shock, fatigue).
• Experience managing external design and fabrication partners through complete lifecycles.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling and PDM/PLM (PTC Creo/Windchill or equivalent).
• Proficiency in ANSYS or equivalent for structural/dynamic analysis.
• Knowledge of engineering change/configuration management processes and document management tools.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or eligible for work in the U.S.

Responsabilidades

• Provide technical leadership for the Large Mechanisms team and approve critical design packages and analyses.
• Establish mechanical design standards and best practices for the team.
• Drive design reviews and ensure compliance with codes, standards, and specs.
• Directly manage Mechanical Engineers supporting large mechanisms and GSE design.
• Recruit, hire, and onboard engineering talent and develop direct reports.
• Conduct regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and career development discussions.
• Foster a collaborative, safety‑first culture aligned with Blue Origin values.
• Own program deliverables, manage scope, schedule, budget, and quality across programs.
• Oversee external design/fabrication partners through fabrication, assembly, installation, testing, and activation.
• Interface with program managers and operations leads to ensure launch-site operability and safety.
• Represent the team in reviews and leadership forums; assist with budgeting and headcount planning.
