Job summary

Blue Origin in Merritt Island, FL, is seeking a Sr. Manager-Mechanical Engineering to lead the Large Mechanisms team designing ground mechanical systems and GSE for launch operations at LC-36.

The role blends technical leadership with people management, setting direction, mentoring engineers, and delivering designs that meet safety and quality standards while interfacing with program leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering.
• 12+ years of professional mechanical engineering experience in large-scale systems.
• 6+ years of direct engineering management or team lead experience.
• Experience leading mechanical design programs from concept through commissioning.
• Experience with GD&T and tolerance stack‑up analysis.
• Experience with bolted connections and heavy-duty mechanisms; quality and safety focus.

Responsibilities

• Serve as technical authority for the large mechanisms team; provide engineering guidance on complex design challenges.
• Establish and maintain mechanical design standards, analysis methods, and best practices.
• Review and approve critical design packages, FEA analyses, tolerances, and drawings.
• Drive design reviews and ensure compliance with codes, standards, and specs.
• Directly manage a team of Mechanical Engineers supporting large mechanisms and GSE design.
