Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to assist in designing and reviewing nuclear power plant systems, including hydraulic, heat transfer, and heat balance analyses. You will prepare or review modification packages and drawings for plant equipment.

The role requires a BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering, 5+ years in the power sector, and familiarity with applicable codes and standards. PE is beneficial but not required.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited Mechanical Engineering degree required (BS or MS).
• Minimum 5 years of experience in the power industry.
• Working knowledge of codes, standards, and regulations for mechanical design in nuclear plants.
• Experience with power uprates and/or turbine-related systems is favorable.
• PE license is beneficial but not required.

Responsibilities

• Provide or review engineering analyses for hydraulic, heat transfer, and heat balance.
• Prepare modification packages for operating nuclear plants and create functional mechanical drawings.
• Develop cost estimates for client-requested work scopes and interface with clients at sites.
• Lead engineering project teams and oversee automation/AI-enabled workflows where appropriate.
