Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a seasoned Mechanical Engineer for nuclear power plant systems design based in the U.S. You will analyze hydraulic, heat transfer, and heat balance aspects, and prepare or review modification packages and drawings for plant systems.

The role requires a BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program and a minimum of 10 years in the power industry, with familiarity in codes and standards. PE is beneficial but not required.

Qualifications

• Requires a BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in the power industry.
• Working knowledge of codes, standards, and regulations for mechanical design of nuclear power plants.
• Experience with power uprates and/or turbine-related systems is favorable.
• PE license is beneficial, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct engineering analyses and evaluations to support modifications and operation of plant systems (hydraulic, heat transfer, heat balance).
• Prepare modification packages for operating nuclear power plants.
• Create/ review functional mechanical drawings and drawings for plant systems.
• Prepare technical specifications and procurement documents for plant equipment.
• Perform vendor bid evaluations for plant equipment.
• Study and evaluate options for modifications to operating nuclear plants.
• Develop engineering cost estimates for small to mid-sized client-requested work scopes.
• Interface with client at office or plant site locations and present engineering task/status.
• Lead engineering project teams.
