Job summary

Prairie Engineers, P.C. is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team.

Lead HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection system design for diverse facilities from concept to construction documents, while mentoring junior engineers and building strong client relationships. The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering, 8+ years of MEPT design experience, and is licensed as a Professional Engineer in Illinois or able to obtain it within six months.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 8+ years of mechanical design experience in building systems/MEP consulting.
• Illinois Professional Engineer license or ability to obtain within six months; multi-state licensure is a plus.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, and load/energy software.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design of HVAC, chilled/hot water, plumbing and fire protection systems for military, federal, and institutional facilities from concept through construction documents.
• Perform load calculations, equipment selection and system analysis; prepare specifications and cost estimates.
• Seal drawings and serve as engineer of record; perform QA/QC on mechanical deliverables.
• Provide construction administration: RFIs, submittal reviews, site visits, and punch lists.
• Mentor and direct mechanical designers and junior engineers.
• Build client relationships and help develop proposals, scopes, and fees.
