Job summary

Prairie Engineers, P.C. in Hannibal, Missouri, is seeking a licensed Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead design of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection for federal and institutional facilities.

You will work from concept through construction documents, ensuring quality and adherence to codes. You will perform load calculations, equipment selection, and cost estimates, seal drawings as engineer of record, and provide QA/QC and construction administration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
• 8+ years of mechanical design experience in building systems/MEP consulting.
• Current Illinois Professional Engineer license, or ability to obtain licensure within six months; multi-state licensure a plus.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, and load/energy software.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems for federal and institutional facilities from concept through construction documents.
• Perform load calculations, equipment selection and system analysis; prepare specifications and cost estimates.
• Seal drawings and serve as engineer of record; perform QA/QC on mechanical deliverables.
• Provide construction administration: RFIs, submittal reviews, site visits, and punch lists.
• Mentor and direct mechanical designers and junior engineers.
• Build client relationships and help develop proposals, scopes, and fees.
