Job summary

Prairie Engineers, P.C. is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the design of HVAC, plumbing, fire protection for military, federal and institutional facilities.

You will oversee concept through construction documents and mentor junior staff in a flexible, remote/hybrid environment. Requirements include 8+ years of ME design, a current Illinois PE license (multi-state licensure a plus), and proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, and load/energy software.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
• 8+ years of mechanical design experience in building systems/MEP consulting.
• Current Illinois Professional Engineer license or ability to obtain within six months.
• Licensure in multiple states is a plus.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, and load/energy software.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design of HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems for military, federal and institutional facilities from concept through construction documents.
• Perform load calculations, equipment selection and system analysis; prepare specifications and cost estimates.
• Seal drawings and serve as engineer of record; perform QA/QC on mechanical deliverables.
• Provide construction administration: RFIs, submittal reviews, site visits, and punch lists.
• Mentor and direct mechanical designers and junior engineers.
• Build client relationships and help develop proposals, scopes, and fees.
