Job summary

RTX is seeking a principal mechanical design engineer to join the Precision Control Actuation System (PCAS) team in Tucson, supporting development, build, and verification of control actuation systems. The role emphasizes autonomous work, complex problem solving, and collaboration across IPTs.

The candidate should have extensive experience in mechanical design for aerospace control systems and a strong background in MATLAB/Simulink, DOORS, and hardware integration.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience or an advance degree and a minimum of 5 years relevant experience
• Experience in mechanical mechanism design OR flight control systems for aerospace applications

Responsibilities

• Provide mechanical engineering support across programs with detailed design, earned value management, test design and execution, and systems engineering
• Operate autonomously with minimal oversight and manage moderate-size projects
• Delegate work to junior engineers and contribute to policy and process improvements
