Job summary

RTX's Precision Control Actuation System (PCAS) department in Tucson seeks a principal mechanical design engineer to support development, build, and verification of control actuation systems.

You will work autonomously on design, test design and execution, and systems engineering, with opportunities to lead projects and collaborate with cross-functional teams. A STEM degree with 8+ years of aerospace mechanical design experience and a DoD clearance are required.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a STEM degree with substantial experience.
• Experience in mechanical mechanism design or flight control systems for aerospace.
• Advanced degree in Mechanical/Aerospace/Systems/Electrical Eng or Physics preferred.
• Proficiency with MATLAB/Simulink and knowledge of DOORS or CAMEO.

Responsibilities

• Provide mechanical engineering support across programs, including design, testing, and systems integration.
• Work autonomously with minimal supervision and manage moderate-size projects.
• Collaborate with distributed teams and support earned value management practices.
• Translate complex tasks into actionable work packages.
