Job summary

WSP is seeking an Experienced Mechanical Engineer for its Charlotte, NC office to support the Property and Buildings Team. You will contribute to due diligence, design, development, and operation of mechanical systems for infrastructure and buildings, ensuring quality and compliance with industry standards.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams on HVAC, hydronic, and plumbing systems, produce reports and drawings, and help deliver projects from planning through installation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related discipline.
• 3 to 5 years of relevant post-education experience in engineering.
• Engineer in Training Certification.
• Knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and practices.
• Experience with building and infrastructure planning and design management.
• Ability to coordinate with regulators and understand requirements.
• Proficient in technical writing, spreadsheets, and design software.

Responsibilities

• Collect, compile, and analyze data from sites, drawings, and reports for project development.
• Perform professional mechanical engineering work and assess site conditions and systems.
• Develop designs and load calculations; support future-ready mechanical solutions.
• Verify site characteristics and provide technical assistance on HVAC and plumbing systems.
• Prepare reports, drawings, calculations, and visualizations for presentations.
• Maintain quality control and assist with small- to medium-sized projects.
• Collaborate with engineers and planners across project teams.
