Job summary

WSP is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for the Riverside, CA office to join our Property & Buildings Team. You will provide design support for mechanical systems on building and infrastructure projects, with emphasis on HVAC, controls, and coordinated multi-discipline collaboration.

You will conduct calculations, assist with construction documents, and ensure compliance with codes and standards while delivering high-quality technical outputs for project execution.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related discipline.
• 3–5 years of mechanical engineering design experience for building systems.
• Knowledge of HVAC systems, controls and building mechanical design.
• Experience with AutoCAD and/or Revit.
• Familiarity with ASHRAE, IECC and local codes.
• Strong analytical, technical writing and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently or in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical assistance for design, development and construction of mechanical systems for building projects.
• Support HVAC system design including air distribution, hydronic systems, controls, and related building systems.
• Assist with research, concept development, and construction documents/specifications.
• Perform mechanical engineering calculations and support system sizing/selection.
• Analyze data from drawings, field observations and reports for project execution.
• Conduct site visits and inspections to ensure code compliance.
• Coordinate with electrical, structural and architectural teams.
• Contribute to technical reports and presentations for findings and recommendations.
• Ensure delivery aligns with WSP quality, safety and performance standards.
