Job summary

WSP in Charlotte, NC is seeking an Experienced Mechanical Engineer to support the Property and Buildings Team in due diligence, design, development, and construction of complex mechanical systems for infrastructure and buildings.

You will analyze site data, perform load calculations, prepare reports, and collaborate with engineers to ensure safety, compliance, and project success across public and private sectors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or closely related discipline.
• 3 to 5 years of relevant post-education experience in engineering.
• Engineer in Training certification is required.
• Knowledge of mechanical system design, building planning, and construction management.
• Ability to coordinate with regulators and understand requirements.
• Proficiency with technical writing, spreadsheets, and design software like AutoCAD or CAM.

Responsibilities

• Collect, compile, and analyze data from sites, drawings, and reports for design development.
• Perform mechanical engineering work, research, and inspections of site conditions and systems.
• Develop design requirements, load calculations, and operating strategies.
• Verify site characteristics and provide technical assistance on HVAC, hydronic, and plumbing systems.
• Work with cross-functional teams to ensure conformance with permits and specifications.
• Prepare technical reports, calculations, drawings, and visualizations for findings.
