Blue Origin is hiring a Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer for the New Glenn 9X4 Landing Gear Subsystem. You will own design, analysis and qualification of landing gear hardware from concept to rate production, aiming for high reliability and reuse.

Join a tight-knit team delivering reusable spaceflight hardware, ensuring quality and safety across development, qualification, and post-flight refurbishments.

Qualifications

• B.S. in mechanical, aerospace, or related engineering.
• M.S. in mechanical, aerospace, or related engineering preferred.

Responsabilités

• Own lifecycle of landing gear components from requirements to post-flight serviceability.
• Design deployable structures and mechanisms with attention to deployment reliability and touchdown load paths.
• Generate drawings, assembly docs, and interface controls with GD&T per ASME Y14.5 and tolerance stacks.
• Perform sizing, material selection, and analyses to demonstrate margins under landing loads, vibration, and cryogenic environments.
• Design for reusability with refurbishment procedures for rapid reuse flights.
• Drive designs to meet recurring cost and touch-labor targets with manufacturing collaboration.
• Develop component specifications, support source selection, and manage suppliers through qualification.
• Plan and execute development and qualification test campaigns with instrumentation and data reduction.
• Contribute to subsystem safety products and reliability assessments.
• Support first-time system builds and on-floor integration; mentor junior engineers.
