Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking an experienced Mechanical/Aerospace Engineer to design, integrate, and test mechanical hardware for the New Glenn program. You will lead design activities, resolve integration roadblocks, and develop artifacts across the lifecycle to support fabrication, assembly, verification, testing and operations.

Qualifications

  • B.S. degree or higher in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
  • 5+ years of recent experience designing aerospace or equivalent type mechanical system elements within aircraft, spacecraft, launch vehicles, or related mission critical equipment
  • Strong mechanical design and integration skills using 3D modeling tools
  • Experience with GD&T (ASME Y14.5)
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
  • Experience in design of mechanisms or components
  • Knowledge of fabrication, integration processes, and quality control relative to machined components and mechanisms
  • Confirmed understanding of materials and treatments
  • Experience and ability to work independently on rapid development programs
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum

Responsibilities

  • Applies engineering techniques to design, install, modify, analyze, and repair mechanical systems hardware.
  • Role will have a strong emphasis on supporting design and integration activities.
  • Specifically identifying available work and resolving roadblocks to facilitate integration tasks.
  • Design, release, and support of engineering artifacts across the product life cycle to support hardware fabrication, assembly, verification, test and operations. Implements operating procedures, resolves system malfunctions, and provides technical information.
  • Researches and analyzes customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements of designs or applications.
  • Owns system components and modifies product design to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications.
  • Investigates equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation, and to make recommendations to maintenance crew.
  • Provide technical support for mission readiness test activities.
