Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking an experienced engineer to design tooling and fixtures for the New Glenn Launch Vehicle. You will apply mechanical design, analysis, and CAD skills to deliver high-quality tooling and fixtures that meet production needs.

Role requires collaborating with flight and manufacturing teams to optimize safety, cost, quality, and delivery while driving cradle-to-grave project outcomes.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Engineering or equivalent work experience.
• 10+ years’ experience designing, building, and commissioning tooling, fixtures, or custom machines for manufacturing, assembly, and test.
• Experience with FEM and complex structural analysis plus hand calculations.
• Proven CAD-based design experience for modeling and drafting.
• Strong design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA) including moving from development to production.
• Understanding of GD&T, materials, and tolerance/stack-up analysis.

Responsibilities

• Design tooling and equipment for production and integration of the New Glenn Launch Vehicle.
• Develop tooling solutions using advanced manufacturing to optimize efficiency.
• Integrate concepts across mechanical design and analysis in fast-paced projects.
• Create drawings using standard drafting practices (ASME Y14.5).
• Manage tools like fixtures, material handlers, and test rigs across multiple projects.
• Collaborate with flight, manufacturing, and integration engineers to optimize cradle-to-grave metrics.
