Job summary

X-energy is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer (Steam Generator) to lead the engineering design of mechanical systems, structures, and components for nuclear products. The role involves concept development, analyses, prototyping, testing, and commissioning to ensure compliance with technical specifications and safety standards.

Responsibilities include developing mechanical concepts, managing interfaces, performing calculations, creating CAD models, and writing design documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field from an accredited institution.
• Typically 15–20 years of engineering experience.
• Master's or PhD may in lieu of experience as specified.
• Experience with mechanical design of SSCs for nuclear products or facilities.

Responsibilities

• Develop mechanical concepts and design SSCs for nuclear products or facilities with focus on nuclear safety.
• Coordinate requirements, interfaces, and industry codes/standards with stakeholders.
• Perform structural, thermal, hydraulic calculations and provide CAD models of reactor SSCs.
• Produce design documentation, verification plans, and participate in design reviews.
• Mentor junior engineers and stay updated on industry trends.
