Job summary

X-energy is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to support the Xe-100 program. You will design and develop mechanical systems, reactor internals, piping, and high-temperature components, ensuring compliance with safety and nuclear standards.

You will create CAD models, run analyses, document design basis, and collaborate across engineers, suppliers, and project leads to deliver robust SSCs from concept through prototyping and commissioning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline from an accredited institution.
• Proficiency with engineering hand calculations.
• Experience designing and developing mechanical or fluid systems, assemblies, or components.
• Hands-on hardware development in a production environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop mechanical/physical concepts and support development of SSCs for nuclear products with a focus on nuclear safety.
• Plan and perform analysis to ensure SSCs meet technical requirements.
• Create and maintain CAD-generated engineering models of reactor SSCs.
• Develop Verification and Validation (V&V) plans for analytical tools and support qualification of toolset.
• Write and develop design documentation including design basis documents and drawings.
• Provide independent reviews of engineering deliverables and data.
