Job summary

X-energy is hiring a HVAC Mechanical Design Engineer to support a Plant & Process Design team in Rockville, MD. The role designs and develops mechanical systems, performs calculations, and ensures compliance with design guides and standards.

You will lead system engineering processes, coordinate with stakeholders, manage external partners, and oversee documentation to deliver safe, reliable SSCs for nuclear applications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from ABET-accredited university.
• 5–15+ years of mechanical engineering experience depending on level.
• Knowledge of quality, regulatory, and nuclear-safety considerations.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical systems and components for nuclear-related projects.
• Perform thermal and hydraulic analyses and CAD modeling.
• Lead system engineering processes and coordinate with stakeholders.
• Produce design documentation and manage reviews.
