Job summary

First National Bank of Omaha is seeking a Senior Mainframe Engineer to lead and optimize z/OS environments within our managed services framework. You will guide upgrade strategies, standardize processes, and drive efficiency across complex mainframe systems.

Ideal candidates bring 10+ years of senior mainframe experience, deep knowledge of JES2/HCD/IODF/SMP/E, and a track record of modernizing z/OS. This role offers remote work with occasional on-site collaboration as needed.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience as a Mainframe Senior Systems Engineer.
• Experience upgrading z/OS and deploying mass maintenance.
• Strong knowledge of JES2, HCD/IODF, SMP/E, WLM, OMVS/USS, SMF/RMF, ASM, GRS, SDSF, TSO, RACF.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a technical leader, guiding best practices for z/OS upgrades.
• Design standardized approaches for z/OS upgrades and mass maintenance.
• Lead efforts to optimize system performance and reduce operational complexity.
• Oversee installation, configuration, and maintenance of IBM and ISV software.
• Plan and execute OS upgrades with minimal business impact.
• Develop technical documentation and templates for rollouts.
