Job summary

FNTS is seeking a Senior Mainframe Engineer to lead technical initiatives, modernize z/OS environments, and drive reliable service delivery. The role emphasizes standards, optimization, and governance within a managed services context.

The ideal candidate combines deep mainframe expertise with strategic vision, capable of guiding upgrades, automations, and cross-team collaboration while supporting after-hours needs and ensuring scalable operations.

Qualifications

Minimum 10 years of experience as a Mainframe Senior Systems Engineer.
Proven experience with z/OS upgrades and mass maintenance.
Strong knowledge of z/OS components and TCP/IP/LPAR configuration.

Responsibilities

Lead z/OS upgrade optimization and mentor team members.
Design standardized approaches for z/OS upgrades and mass maintenance.
Lead efforts to optimize system performance and reduce operational complexity.
Oversee installation, configuration, and maintenance of IBM and ISV software products.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan OS upgrades with minimal business impact.
Develop and maintain technical documentation for OS rollouts.
Drive adoption of new technologies to support strategic objectives.
Act as SME for mainframe infrastructure projects and governance.
Provide advanced troubleshooting for escalated incidents beyond Level 1.
Participate in after-hours and weekend support as needed.
