FNTS is seeking a Senior Mainframe Engineer to join our managed services engineering team. You will lead z/OS upgrade initiatives, drive standardized maintenance, and optimize performance across customer environments while shaping automation and governance.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in z/OS operating system upgrades and mass maintenance.
• Knowledge of z/OS components: JES2, HCD/IODF, SMP/E, WLM, OMVS/USS, SMF/RMF, ASM, GRS, SDSF, TSO and RACF.
• Understanding of VTAM, TCP/IP and LPAR configuration via HMC.
• Storage management knowledge: SMS, HSM, DFDSS, VSAM, IDCAMS, ICF Catalogs.
• Minimum 10 years of experience as a Mainframe Senior Systems Engineer.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a technical leader, guiding best practices and mentoring team members on z/OS upgrade optimization.
• Design and implement standardized approaches for z/OS upgrades and mass maintenance for repeatable, high-quality outcomes.
• Lead efforts to optimize system performance, streamline processes, and reduce operational complexity.
• Oversee installation, configuration, and maintenance of IBM and ISV software products, ensuring alignment with enterprise standards.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan operating system upgrades with minimal business impact.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation and templates for OS rollouts.
• Drive adoption of new technologies and automation to support strategic objectives.
• Act as SME for mainframe projects, providing direction and governance.
• Provide advanced troubleshooting and resolution for escalated incidents beyond Level 1 support.
• Participate in after-hours and weekend support as required.
