Job summary

FNBO seeks a Senior Mainframe Engineer to guide z/OS upgrade optimization and modernization within our managed services engineering team. You will design standardized upgrade approaches and drive reliable delivery of mainframe services for customers.

With 10+ years of experience, you will lead performance improvements, automate processes, and ensure enterprise standards are met while working remotely and collaborating across teams nationwide.

Qualifications

• 10+ years as a Mainframe Senior Systems Engineer.
• Proven experience with z/OS upgrades and mass maintenance deployments.
• Strong knowledge of z/OS components: JES2, HCD/IODF, SMP/E, WLM, OMVS/USS, SMF/RMF, ASM, GRS, SDSF, TSO, RACF.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and guidance on z/OS upgrade optimization.
• Design standardized upgrade and mass maintenance approaches for repeatable, high-quality outcomes.
• Lead efforts to optimize performance, reduce operational complexity, and align with enterprise standards.
• Oversee installation, configuration, and maintenance of IBM and ISV software products.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan OS upgrades with minimal business impact.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation and rollout templates.
• Drive adoption of new technologies and automation frameworks.
• Serve as SME for mainframe projects and provide advanced troubleshooting.
• Participate in after-hours and weekend support as required.
