Job summary

Cognizant Technology Solutions Corporation is seeking a Senior Mainframe Developer to design, enhance, and support healthcare claims applications using COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM, CICS, and MQ. You will join the Application Development and Maintenance team and collaborate with business analysts, QA professionals, project managers, support teams, and onsite and offshore engineers.

Work model: Remote. This remote role is open to qualified applicants in the United States, with flexibility and wellbeing

Qualifications

• 8+ years hands-on mainframe development experience with COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM, CICS and MQ.
• Experience with healthcare claims adjudication processes and related business workflows.
• Knowledge of code migration, release management, environment promotion, deployment validation and backout procedures.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills for complex production issues.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills in an Agile, onsite and offshore delivery environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, debug, and maintain healthcare claims applications using COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM, CICS, and MQ.
• Translate requirements into scalable, efficient mainframe solutions for claims adjudication workflows.
• Troubleshoot production issues, optimize performance, conduct code reviews, and implement fixes.
• Support system integration testing, UAT, code migration, production deployment and post-implementation validation.
• Provide technical leadership to offshore team members and coordinate onsite/offshore delivery.
